I 'm doing some rewiring at home and have a cat5 wall jack that I put in as 568b wiring type but I can't figure out how to have the wires on the rj45 end? ( no patch panel) any links would be appreciated

Thanks!!!

WIth the open end of the plug facing you, clip towards the floor:
(Left-to-right)
White-Orange, Orange, White-Green,Blue, White-Blue, Green, White-Brown, Brown

No more than 1/2" of exposed wires, with no more than 1/2" untwisted (same half-inch).

The jacket of the cable should get crimped under the dimple on the top of the plug (near the back).

Good Luck

18" at the ABSOLUTE minimum, 36 inches or longer is recommended....since you asked....It's some kind of magic happnin'...I don't recall why. Part of the Impedence thing goin' on in there, maybe it's a signal level thing. I just don't remember.

Good Luck

Happy New Year.

Yeah, i have seen that 18" spec as well though I have seen 6" patch panel patch cables for sale on some vendors site after another thread about this subject and made many many 12" patches that tested out and worked perfectly.

I was wondering because I had a patch cable I made and it wasn't working , I redid both ends like 3 times each, when I try a store bought cable it worked fine. Maybe I was crimping to hard
