HELP! need to extend a NETGEAR wireless router coverage

hey all,

I've got a wireless router (804 or something...a pretty basic model), and I need to extend the wireless signal. I want a wireless extender for this network in a far-away room to use a laptop with. I also need the laptop to be able to see the other devices plugged into the 804. I can run a CAT5 cable to/from the 804 to wherever we need to place this extender (or whatever device will work). I purchased a Linksys Wireless Extender, but had to return it because it didn't work.

I saw this new NETGEAR HD / Wireless Gaming kit, but I don't think it will work for 50 feet away, since it appears there is no way to hardwire a signal between the two routers (or whatever they are): http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16833122219

Any suggestions are really, really helpful. I'm not good at all with this wireless networking blanket stuff.

Thanks,

Rup

why? You can buy any other access point--not just Linksys. In my opinion, adding an access point is the cheapest and easiest way to go.

I had already tried the Linksys...they stocked it at the local Best Buy... but it wouldn't recognize my router....tech support was no help. I've ordered the NETGEAR version of the access point from newegg...this should do the trick. Thanks for the help! I'll post back here when it arrives this weekend.
