Purchased this TV.

Okay I purchased this tv. Going to pay for it in 20min.

I need to decide if I want to pay $185 for a 2 yr warranty??? I've bought tvs in the past on risk and never had a problem but this one is 2k+.

Also the warranty is provided by Warrantech.com

Anyone got suggestions for me? Is this warranty company good?

Thx

I paid for the ext. warranty for my big screen. Having in-home service is worth it to me.

How long of warranty? I mean it comes with 90day which isn't much. I would like atleast 2yrs. But if this warranty company isn't a good one then why bother right??

Large TV's are one of the few things you should get an ext warranty for, they're too big to get back & forth to the shop...

are you buying this TV in person? Trying talking your way into an extended warranty.

Edit: ignore this if you were the winner of the auction, I thought by piking it up you meant driving to a chain store.

Hopefully not from that guy. 94.4, 6 comments about serial numbers being ripped off? More like off the back of a truck..

Whoops. Nope not from him. I fixed the link.

Thats the one I bought. 99.1% feedback and looks like they have an actual storefront
too.

nope

unless you get it in writing that it covers bulbs

more than likely it won't at that price

are bulbs likely the only thing that goes wrong? what about calibrating?? I just don't wanna pay $200 for
a crappy warranty that doesn't cover hardly anything.

no but the bulbs are going to definitely have to be replaced during the life of the TV

if it is not DOA than the bulb is the only thing that should ever die since they have a life of a few thousand hours

a bulb is not the only thing that can go wrong but that is probably the only reason i would ever buy an extended warranty on a TV

also a lot of times the extended warranty if it is like 2 years than it counts the period that is covered by the manufacture

instead of getting 1 by the manufacture and 2 by the service it is just 2
i usually feel safe enough with the manufacturer warranty but if they are not an authorized dealer the manufacturer technically does not have to honor it as well

so you may be forced into it if they are not an authorized dealer

ok thx for the info.

aren't the bulbs usually easy enough to replace yourself? I know they usually cost like 100-300 but I expect that.

I guess I will go with the 90day warranty and hope nothing goes wrong. This warranty company i've never heard of and I just think it would be a waste of $200.

bulbs can be replaced but i have no idea how easy it is but i would imagine it to be not that difficult

as the one in my house is only a few months old (august)

In 2 years that TV and the Bulbs will cost less than thw warranty itself.

Extended Warranties from companies like that prey on peoples fears like insurance does, its material gambling.
