Help, need some lifting advice

Dumbbell deadlifts? That's retarded. You probably can't find any b/c no one's stupid enough to try to do deadlifts with dumbbells.

It's not like sissy squats.

i've done them as a variation on regular DL's.

put the DB's just outside your ankles or slightly ahead.
keep your back as straight as possible & keep the
DB's close to your body during both the concentric &
eccentric phases of the lift.

the only problem i had was that the DB's
weren't very heavy (150 lbs each) & i had to do a lot of reps,
which made hand perspiration an issue - chalk
or straps took care of that.

This may help.

Stiff-Legged Dumbbell Deadlift

Exercise Data
Main Muscle Worked: Lower Back
Other Muscles Worked: Hamstrings
Equipment: Dumbbell
Mechanics Type: Compound

Tips: Bend at your waist with your head up, back straight and knees nearly locked. Hold dumbbells at arm's length with palms facing in. Straighten up while holding the dumbbells at arm's length. Lower back down to the floor. This can be a dangerous exercise if not done correctly or done with weights that are too heavy. Can also be done standing on a bench or box or with a barbell.

Why would you deadlift with dumbells?

I've been lifting only with dumbells to properly target both sides of the body. It also requires a bit more strength that way so the muscles really get a good workout. But I ended up using barbells for the deadlift anyway.

Stiff legged deadlift, aka romanian deadlifts != deadlifts. They really tend to work differing muscle groups.

I'm still waiting for the 'why' part. 😛 I assume you only have DBs to work with? You'd be better off doing deadlifts with some sort of box full of books or something. 😛

This is how to do it.

No different to a barbell. Keep your back straight and lift with your LEGS.
