OK I've scoured Google, Webcrawler, Altavista and MSN without any luck so I'm coming to you guys on bended knee.

I've recently been put in charge of a large scale deployment and we've been told we're using Microsofts User State Migaration Tool to go from Win2kPro to WinXPPro. I can find little to no documentation on modifications to the the .infs or even the easiest way to deploy the tool.

If anybody out there has used the tool for a rollout or deployment please could you point me toward some ready made modifyable infs or some books to purchase to better understand the syntax for what to grab and what to leave and any tips or tricks to make the deployment easier I'd be awfully grateful.

Please guys I need a favor. Thanks in advance for reading.

I have never heard of anything like that. Why can't you just do a XP Upgrade or are they wanting to save the user Profiles do a clean install then copy the user Profile back over?

Yes MrChad I need something far beyond that. We're using Lotus Notes which further complicates things on a non-standard Win2K build. Meaning our Home Ofiice hacked the s*&t out of it and moved system folders and what-not to places they shouldn't be. I need to understand the syntax of the .infs in order to be able to grab what we need and exclude extraenious stuff like *.mp3 and temp intnet files. So I'm looking for someone who's done a roll out of this magnitude before using this tool and also looking looking for modifyable .infs that were used for it. Barring that I'm looking for web resources or books that can be purchased to get the job done. The web has not been kind this day.

edit to add:
Rumptis: Some of our machines have literally, without exaggeration ~40-50 user profiles. Some only have one. We need a system to get everything off the machine we need for all of the machines and it needs to be the same system across the board. Except in special cases ie: high level corporate mucky-mucks who will get full ghost backups.
