HELP! Need gift suggestion for an ex.

Like the title says... i need a gift suggestion for my ex. We're good friends, no hard feelings between us... she has a bf, and i'm seeing others as well. I'll be flying up to spend the xmas holiday with her and her family.

So i need a gift suggestion. I have absolutely NO idea what to get her, in the past, the best gifts were practical. Speaker system, computer stuff, etc. But when i tried to get her something sentimental, they weren't her style or just plain wrong. For instance, i got her a tennis bracelete because she told me she likes them. I spent a few hundred and got her a dainty white gold one with diamonds. But she wanted something with zirconian and something a lot 'thicker' (she didn't say that, she was happy, but i found out later what she really wanted). Next, she's a Hello Kitty freak... so i got her HK stuff, including a HK organizer. Doh, how does she like bringing an organizer with a HK picture on it to her clients? Probably not much.... she didn't say that, but from reflection, i should have gotten her a leather bound one or a PDA.

Now i need to get her a gift. And i have NO idea what to get her. I want something practical, and sentimental as well if possible. Anybody have any suggestions? I was thinking maybe a watch, but she has lots of watches.

Also, anybody have any suggestion on a gift for her parents?

Does she have a cell phone? If so, how about getting her one of those furry cell phone animal covers? I bet there's a HK one available. They're cute and trendy, although they kinda freak me out.

LOL yeah she does... and i was going to get her one of those too last summer, but her phone are the flip ones (it's both a cell phone and CB kinda thing, where with a click of a button, she can talk to her other co-workers without dialing). Besides, her cellphone is treated like crap cause she uses it so much, and there's makeup all over it (especially under the screen). Also, don't know how it would look if she had to use a phone like that infront of a client.

Hmmm i might get her one of those Hello Kitty 'massager'. I just hope i can get it in time. But i need some other suggestions too, no more than $200 or so though.

What do women normally want as gifts?

Wine is a good idea for the parents actually! Any other ideas for them?

IMO gift cards are the best gifts... get her one to her favorite store. Then take her to lunch and shopping.

A cookbook? I'm getting a friend of mine who likes to cook a culinary torch (like for making creme brulee) for Xmas, and another one some unpopped gourmet popcorn. Try shopping at Crate and Barrel? How about an apron that says KissThe Cook? (ok that was lame)
