ALL:

Objective: Build a system based on P4-478-Northwood on i850 chipset. :) Budget: 1500.00

Use: Mostly office work (will run Oracle DB and Oracle 9iAS) + some games (like Flight Simulator) + Video Capture. Currently have a Samsung 170MP flat panel.

I am not very familiar with overclocking but would like that option once I successfully build this.

I would also like to make this system future proof ;) as much as possible.

I am ordering through mwave including their aluminium case. Their site lists some options for this case but I have no idea how to order these., or do I need it? Here is what I am planning to get:

First, damn that's a killer setup!

Ok now on to the comments...

If you're getting the Visiontek Personal Cinema card, why get the Firewire card too? (unless you need the firewire for something else than a digital video camera...and vice versa, if you need the firewire for a dv camera, why get the personal cinema?)

Secondly, I really don't think you need a 400w PSU. 350w or 300w would do just fine for your setup, especially if you don't NEED to overclock (you'd probably have a hard time overclocking with a 300w, but 350w should do fine as long as it's a good brand).

Also, make sure you're either getting 2 256MB 800MHz RDRAM sticks (for 512MB total RAM), or 2 128MB 800MHz RDRAM sticks (for 256MB total RAM), cause for the i850 chipset you need to run the RDRAM in pairs for it to work (you might already have known that but it didn't look like you were planning on buying 2 sticks from your post).

anyway, that's it from here, damn I wish I had the funds for that monster :)

Thanks for your responses.

Yes, I will take care of the memory pair. I missed this one

The personal cinema does not come with the firewire interface. Hence the card. Thinking about it, I am dropping the card since I don't really need it now.

Thanks for your help.
