Okay, I'm going to be a fresh grad from UIUC Comp Sci department soon, and I've been applying for jobs. Well, Boeing just responded and asked that I fill out another application. The problem is, I have no idea what my expected salary should be. Since I applied to many positions at Boeing, I have no idea what this is for. Either embedded systems or IT. Any advice would be appreciated. If a similar thread has already been posted, please post a link. Thanks.

PS. When I send this application back, should I include anything thing else (letter of thanks, etc), and if so, what?

dont state a salary.. when they ask "what would your expected salary be" just say "a salary that is competitve for the position in todays current market"..

example : interviewee states a salary (40,000) and the starting pay for this position is 50,000-55,000 then you just messed yourself out of 10-15k a year

I don't know why it would be bad, but I do know that you're foolish to make the first salary offer.

I'd leave it open and have the recruiter come up with a figure, then depending on your experience (which is fresh out of college), intellect, and negotiating skills, work from there.

But to put a figure in mind, fresh out of college students typically make from 50-60k for engineering/computer science depending on the size of the company and the position.

let them make a first offer, you can go back to them later and say its not enough if need be
