My trackball mouse is slowing reaching the end of its life. So then it's time for a new mouse, woot woot. Sorry anyways, I need a new mouse and it's going to be for a Mac that I will be dual booting XP/Vista to play some games. So I need recommendations. If I get a gaming mouse, will it work on the Mac side? If not, should I spring for an MX Revolution, is that good for gaming? Or should I just get a new trackball mice, any good ones out there that I can use for gaming?

If I get a gaming mouse just for the Windows side, can I still use the gaming mouse, even with reduced functionality? As long as I can use the left, right, and scroll buttons on the Windows side, I'll be happy. Is that possible?

I'm pretty sure it'd work as long as its USB (which most are). I know two of my past optical mice worked well enough with my old iBook and OSX 10.2.

If you really want driver support with a gaming mouse for both Windows and OSX, I know the Razer Pro|Click (basically a Diamondback with a white shell) has drivers for both.

Not entirely sure about vista support though, so if you're really planning on working with Vista a lot then you'd probably be able to get a better mouse and just use it in its vanilla form for OSX.

Let's say for example I get a Razor Diamondback or a Logitech G9. Can I use it as a regular mouse on the Mac side?

It's just good for desktop work huh? Ok, so anyone know if you could use a gaming mouse with reduced functionality on the Mac side?

I would be surprised if you couldn't, as I said before, my past USB mice worked just fine on the mac side...including the extra buttons in right click, forward, backward, scroll wheel and scroll wheel click.
