HELP: Need a decent video camera for Skype / Adobe Connect

I am looking for a decent camcorder / video camera with optical zoom that I can connect to my laptop to broadcast guest speakers, meetings, etc. over Skype or Adobe Connect. A lot of cameras seem to have HDMI out, but not sure what the best way is to get that into the laptop - are there USB or PCMCIA HDMI capture cards that work with Skype / Connect? My laptop has a 4-pin firewire port, but not too many cameras seem to use 1394 anymore.

Regardless, would appreciate some advice.
