I'm looking at http://www.msi.com.tw/support/bios/mainboard/6xxx/k7t_turbo/k7t_turbo.htm

Why do i see two different versions ?

AWARD(R) V1.0B16 Special BIOS
AWARD(r) BIOS version 2.5 release.

Has MSI shipped the K7T Turbo with some being 1.0x and some 2.5 or something ? How odd.

I have a 1ghz AMD Thunderbird. I'm wanting to use my pc133 memory with using the 133mhz bus speed. I'm pretty sure I need to use the AWARD(R) V1.0B16 Special BIOS since it explicitly claims it adds lower ratios to the bios. If anyone could tell me how I can correctly increase my system bus to 133 (after upgrading the bios) I would appreciate the help!! Specifically I need to know the following to have a 133 mhz bus:
(these are my current settings)

CPU Vcore Select: Default
CPU Vio Select 3.3v
Auto Detect Dimm/PCI Clk: Enabled
Spread Spectrum Modulated: Enabled
Clock by slight adjust: 100
CPU Clock Ratio: Default

The above settings produce 1000MHZ upon boot. I am using 128MB of Mushkin pc133 rev2 Ram.

Also, i've only upgraded the bios of 1 motherboard previously, with no problems afterwards. I've also heard that upgrading the bios is not always successful, and can lead to other system problems. Can anyone give any advice on a "safe" installation, or am I being paranoid?

I believe that's the version of the BIOS.
AWARD(R) V1.0B16 Special BIOS is a beta BIOS (denoted by the B)
AWARD(r) BIOS version 2.5 release is the official release.
Upgrading the BIOS will not allow you to run with a 133mhz FSB, because that is limited by the chipset (KT133)
You should still be able to set the ram to run at 133 though, by setting the RAM clock to Host CLK+PCI Clk
or something similar.
Host CLK(100)+PCI CLK(33)=133

edit:
MSI says the Special BIOS is an overclockers/power users BIOS. What that would mean, I believe, is that it has more options than the official, to tweak your system more.

With the K7T TURBO there is a yellow jumper below the DIMM slots. If it is closed then your system is at 100, if you open it then you are running at 133Mhz. If you have it open you can only use PC133 Memory.

One thing we need to know is if your CPU is 200Mhz FSB (B) or 266Mhz FSB (C).

If you have a 200Mhz FSB CPU then you leave the jumper closed and then go into your BIOS and into ADVANCED CHIPSET FEATURES and set the DRAM CLOCK to 133Mhz. Then your Memory will be running at 133Mhz and your CPU will be running at 200Mhz FSB. However you can try to overclock your CPU by opening the jumper and see what happens at 133mhz.:) You would probably want to lower the multiplier first though.

If you have a 266Mhz FSB Athlon then you open the jumper and your memory runs at 133Mhz. You do not have to change the BIOS settings at all.

You do not need to upgrade the BIOS the one installed is fine unless you want more settings in the BIOS.

Hope I didn't confuse you.
