Help: My USB mouse stops working

Can anyone tell me why my USB mouse stops working when I use my floppy drive? Its a Intellimouse and it completely shuts down, they lights go out and no response at all from it. I have to reboot to get it back. Any ideas?

does it do the same thing if you connect the mouse to the PS/2 connector?

It works fine if I use the PS/2 connector with a different mouse. I haven't tried it with this one yet. I'll try to dig up my adapter and give it a shot.
