Since a new reformat and installation of an ATA100 card..I tried to use my trusty dvd player...and it skipped like crazy...

I checked in device manager and DMA was NOT checked...so I checked....it prompted to reboot...I did..and when Windows came back...I checked...and DMA still wasnt checked...and the dvd still skipped like crazy..

Help please...using ATI DVD Software and PowerDVD latest versions and they both act exactly the same..

Thanks,

jaime

When you check DMA (Direct Memory Access) Windows tells you that if it is supported then the DMA box will remain checked after you reboot.
Obviously you're DVD player doesn't support DMA.

Try this.

Goto system information in your Control Panel or right click on my Computer to Properties.

Delete your dvd drive device.

Restart and make sure you have dma enabled in your Setup or set to AUTO.

Restart and your computer should have drivers again. Check it to see if it has DMA enabled in your DVD drive in your System Info.

Hope this worked for you,
