Help! My Speakers are playing static!!!!

Ok, this is truly going to be the death of me. Whenever I play sound through my speakers, I hear this little "pop" kind of sound. Does not go with the bass at all, and comes out of the left speaker, and is random/constant. Ok, so eventually I just exploded unplugged those freaking speakers, and put some other Altec's I had on. Guess what....SAME PROBLEM!!!

I guess the real explanation is that somewhere on the case itself, some sort of metal is grounding itself to the back maybe? You know that static you get when you are plugging in your speakers, but it just touches any metal on the case first? I dont' know what else it could be? Same left speaker, with the same freaking sound. It's annoying the HELL out of me!!!!!

I'm gonna just unplug everything tomorrow, and very carefully tie up all the wires and plug everything back in. (In case it's a problem with the "shielding" of the wires.)

But does anyone have any other ideas on anything I should be looking for?

This is one of those super annoying problems which prohibits you from playing any music or watch any movies. Fan-freaking-tastic!!!!!!

Sounds like something I had the other day:
The optical wire between the sound card and the amplifier (?) had gotten a little out of place - >pop<, buzzing from the left side and very little else.

KeyserSoze, are you using a Creative sound card?

yeah soundblasters and onboard tend to do that. i remember when i had onboard sound whenever id shutdown id get this huge pop out of my speakers. i think it had something to do with a power surge or something? i read something about that but forgot. anyhow i heard soundblasters do that too. so i bought a turtle beach santa cruz card. im lovin it.

edit: that might not be the solution to your problem but you might want to try swapping soundcards

Wow, this is killing me.

Yeah, it's a SoundBlaster Live! (In response to the Creative question.)

All I think I can really do is just unplug everything today and redo all the wiring. And try to seperate the speaker wires from anything else, and make sure everything is plugged in correctly on the back of the case.

(I have soo many things going in the back of my computer with my sound card, TV Capture Card, and the standard connections.)

Thanks for any suggestions. I'll post back later after I try to remedy the situation.

Honestly, I would get a Santa Cruz... I have one, it's great, and they are available for pretty cheap nowadays, even in store.

Well yeah, I will get something nice IF in fact it is the Sound Card. But I'm just not sure about it yet. I'll look into that card if I have to purchase one.

I guess I can see about buying some cheapy card to replace it to test it.

Well, case closed.

I re-formatted my computer for the hell of it anyways. (Been a while.) And for some weird reason, the damn problem fixed it self. This makes NO sense at all.
