help - my router turns my computer on

When i turn on my router, my computer also turns on.

does anyone know why this happens?

my router is an smc barricade (smc7004br).

I thought it was my mobo, so I disabled the wol feature, and it still does this.

I was going to say disable WOL, but since you've already done that, this is just a bump, I guess.

You've disconnected the network cable from your machine in order to verify that it is in fact the network connection causing it to happen? Sure it's not just because they're both on the same power strip and when you hit the switch on that they both come on?

Does it happen when your computer has gone into hibernate mode or sleep mode, or when you've actually gone through the shutdown process?

I'm positive that it's the network connection causing it. The router and the computer are even on different powerstrips/outlets.

The computer went through the shutdown process. I never go into sleep or hibernate mode.

why not leave the router on 24/7.. arent' routers meant to be on always?

I thought about leaving it on 24/7, but the electric bill skyrockets when I leave things on 24/7. (Damn california energy crisis).
