I usually leave my NAS on, and left for a week-long vacation and came back to the NAS being powered off. When I power try to power it on, it never boots up. I've replaced the memory and the power supply, both with the same results. It may be the motherboard itself, but I don't know where to get a spare motherboard for this box.

One weird thing is that the unit powers on as soon as I attach the power cable, not when I push the power button. It's probably not supposed to do that...

Anyway, so now I've taken the hard drives out and would like to manually extract the files from them. Since i'm using a sparc-based CPU, the NAS is using the ext4 filesystem with a 16 KB block size instead of the usual 4 KB. I've installed the appropriate software on my PC to access ext4 file systems, but it just shows the entire drive as being 0 bytes. Even downloading WD diagnostic tools shows the drives as 0 bytes and it passes all of the tests.

I'm using WD 1 TB Green drives if it makes a difference.

Was the RadyNas using some sort of RAID? You might need to hook up the entire array to get at the data. Also, if it was using hardware RAID, you might not be able to get the array working without a controller with a similar RAID controller / firmware.

It is no need. Raid can be reconstructed virtualy with R-studio, winhex, Ufs explorer etc.
After that, you can get access to your data .
The only problem is , job is not for newbies. Definitely you need special skills for that.
