Help my pick some good 2.0 speakers for my friend.

Does anybody have any recommendations for good 2.0 speakers for a computer. I'm planning on purchasing a Chaintech AV-170 as well. I've been looking at some of the klipsch speakers but I would like to hear some feedback from other people too. She doesn't want anything high-end like bookshelf speakers or anything like that, just simple 2.0 computer speakers that are good for listening to music though.

n/m ... you had mentioned Klipsch, i would check those out they have gotten pretty good reviews from what i've seen, haven't had a chance to listen to 'em though

What's the budget? Is the issue with bookshelf speakers the size of them, or powering them, or something specific?

I'm not familiar with how the 2 speaker Klipsch sound, personally. I think the 2.1 Creative I-Trigue 3300 sound pretty good. They aren't the cheapest 2.1 speaker systems, but I think they sound better than those.

I can't say how much better the more expensive systems might sound than these.

The budget is around $100 maybe $150, I have done a fair amount of research on bookshelf speakers because I was looking into the Ascend CBM-170SE bookshelf speakers a while back when I was planning a system for my pc but I decided to go the headphone route. My friend said that she wants good speakers for her computer but that's all. I guess I could ask her about her opinion on bookshelf speakers but I think she'll probably say that she doesn't need speakers that "extreme".

Well $100-$150 doesn't leave you a lot of room for bookshelf speakers anyway.

Sonic T-amp + the Insignias from BB would probably be one of the stronger bets for the bookshelf route.

I'm just thinking that you're saying 2.0, and most computer speaker systems that are 2.0 are going to be rather lacking in the bass department. 2.1 systems will help give a fuller frequency range to make up for the small satellite speakers most sets have.

with speakers it all comes down to budget really there are so many and do you want a amp built in to them and what is the main reason music, dvd, games etc?
