My girlfriend wa susing my computer for about 4 hours last night, and then after she said it started running really slow, I think she was listenikng to songs through Limewire, and now my computer is super slow and the sound sounds like crap and all gurgled even the windows start up sound or if you play an MP3 it starts fine but about 10 seconds in to it it goes bad.

I can't even get into my Add and remove programs screen it just sits there for like 10 minutes and my computer restarts.

Any help would be great !
 
Oh yeah my computer is super slow all the time now, takes way loger to boot up, most of the time even dragging my mouse across the sreen the mouse lags.

Somthings super wrong here, please help me.
 
Umm spyware scan in safe mode, delete all the temp files too. Run hijackthis and remove limewire, it's a POS spyware junk.
 
what free program do you think I should do the spyware scans with I have MS Antyspyware running all the time and I Just used Spyware Doctor and it didn't pick up anything but 2 cockies ?

I can't play games now either give me a error with it gets to the menu now I think something about the sound.
 
Best thing to do is to backup important files, format or repartition the drive, and reinstall windows. Another option is to run (in safe mode if needed) lavasoft adaware and hijackthis. Then reinstall the audio and video drivers.
 
I just Ran Safe mode same thing it runs super slow and I can't get into my add and remove programs screen, I think it has something to do with the mp3 player biult into Limewire or a audio codec but you guys now alot more then I do, and I really don't, can't format and start fresh for the next couple of days I need to use my PC tonight and tomorrow.

Yep. Go to download.com and get Spybot search and destroy and adaware se, both free. If this doesn't work, time for a clean install.

I have used many and there are many good ones out there but I ended up with Spyware S&D http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html, and Spywareblaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html. The second is a prophylactic only - will not remove stuff. This is for after you have solved the problem.

If you have XP try using system restore. If you don't or it's disabled, then hurubi is correct. Backup and do a clean install. I would do this anyway frankly.

For the future, use a good antivirus (I use AVG), and keep it UPDATED, a good firewall (I use Sygate), and TWO anti-spyware programs (very important to keep updated, most free versions don't update automatically). All products I use have free versions and smaller RAM footprints than expensive programs such as Norton. Nothing has ever gotten through my net.

amdskip is correct that you should reboot and run scans in safemode - do spyware AND antivirus. But his suggestion to use HijackThis only makes sense if your browser has been hijacked (redirects to un unwanted page upon launch).

Some programs do that, I remember installing NetLimiter on my PC and it all of a sudden started going WAY slower. No adware/spyware... it just did somethign random in windows. Uninstall NetLimiter and it should be good.
