Hi, firstly my notebook is Asus A455LD:
core I5-4210U
8GB ram
500 GB HDD
Nvidia 820M

I'm using windows 10 with the latest update..

So my problem is when I try to shut down my notebook, the screen went black and the hdd indicator is stop blinking, but the power indicator remains on, also I could hear the fan and hdd still spin, I left it for about one and a half hour but still.. Reinstalling windows doesn't seem to have any effects at all.. Please help, I'll appreciate your help a lot :"))

Did the laptop come with 8.1? You might need to upgrade to the latest BIOS for everything to work properly with the newer OS. Also check device manager and see if anything is missing a deiver.

Yes it did. I've upgraded it to the latest bios, I've also checked the device manager and nothing seem to be missing.. Do I need to reinstall windows after upgrading the bios?

No, you don't need to re-install Windows after a BIOS update.
I've read that some people have experienced similar issues like this, when the Windows 10 Fast Startup feature is enabled. Can you try disabling that and see if it makes a difference?

Oh okay then..
Is it a problem that only laptops seem to experience? Because I have a PC with windows 10 and never encounter such a problem..

And if I may ask can you explain to me what is this "Windows 10 Fast Startup" do? Is it the same as putting your laptop in hibernate?

The idea with the feature is to make bootup faster, and it does this by having Windows save certain system files in a hibernation file. More detailed info on it here:

My suggestion was just to try disable it as a test and see what happens. The option can be quickly enabled or disabled if you want to go back.

Oh yeah I get the idea by reading your comments and both articles.. It seems like a really cool idea to have a faster boot up time..

Okay so I've turned it off and I'll report after a few days to see if the problem remains..

Thank you you're so helpful, I appreciate it man
