HELP!!! My New Computer won't run Icewind Dale 2

I can install the program, view the readme and everything else, but when I click play, the screen goes black and then minimizes. This has also happened on two very old games, Monopoly and Road Rash. Is there anything you guys have heard of that can cause this?
All games installed prior to 01/19/04 work fine. pls help.

Are you running any other applications or programs in the system tray that may be "stealing focus"? Folding@home does that to most games on my system, when I close it out everything starts fine.

I am guessing you are running 2k or xp.

First thing is update it.

It sounds like what is happening is your monitor is going out of sync.

Game is actually launching but you cant see it.

Not sure about 2k but as I understand it XP has fixed this problem with updates. So I would suggest going and getting all of the critical updates from Microsoft.

If you are using 2k you might try doing a search for 2k refresh fix. There should be lots of info on the net about it.

Why don't you just call the tech support? If it's a known problem, then they should have some sort of solution for it.
