Help, my monitor is turning yellow

I have a standard hp monitor that came with my hp pavilion about two years ago and today it started turning a yellow/green color. I believe that the problem is with the cable but the cable is attached to the monitor so i can't replace it. Anyone have some ideas on how I can fix this without getting a new monitor. thanks in advance.

older monitors tend to turn yellow after a few years of use. this is b/c the phosphors inside of the monitor accumulate in the corners where the electron guns are pointing

do you leave your monitor on constantly? and it is a yellow/green color around the edges? there really isn't much you can do about this problem, except buy a new monitor. you can take it to a shop and have a professional degauss it, but that might not even help

That is not the problem, it's the cable. When I fool around with the cable for a while I can get it to go back to normal but eventually it seems to want to turn green yellow/green(i guess when it moves a little) so then i have to fool around with it again. Is there a way to replace this cable? thanks for the help anyway.

I have had a problem similar to yours only mine was turning Pink. I thought it was the cable it turned out to be the Video card not seating properly in the socket. Reseat the card. If it is a pci video card, change sockets.
hope this helps.

Yeah, you need to make sure that the cable is screwed all the way in and that the video card is securely in the motherboard. The problem is not the cable itself, but rather the card and the cable are not connected well.

Good Luck!
