If i run serious Sam, i get way lower framerates, then if i run it on my geforce 2 mx, why is this ?
Secondly, i can't run need for speed 5, causs when i'm in the menus, the screen 'jumps' every second. It does the same thing in Carmagedden 2, is it my card or the games ?

Third: In 3dMark 2001 i got 1800-1900 points with geforce 2mx, now i get only 1500, and i can't even run 3dmark 2000, causs when it comes to the test with the multiple lights, the program just exits, like if it had never been started.

My system has a 750 Mhz Duron processor, and 512 Mb Pc133 RAM. The only game that actually works is quake 3, and that suck.

Could anyone please help me ?

Thanks in advance

If nobody here can help, try posting the same question in the forums @ Paraknowya A couple of Power VR employees hang around their forums and have been helping users "debug" their shiny new K2s.

HTH, and that I don't get banned from here for redirecting the traffic...!

Try using the following command in SS's console to see if it improves your performance:

ogl_bExclusive = 1

There is no visual difference in using this, it just results in KYRO gaining a considerable performance increase if its not already enabled.

As for forums - another you can try would be PowerVR Revolution; people have been helping out with KYRO issues quite a lot there (although many seem to stem from incorrect AGP drivers - thats the first place to check!).

DragonFly,

I have almost the exact same computer and I have been able to run 3DMark2000 flawlessly and 3DMark2001 OK. There are two test that 3DMark2001 says it can't complete, but then it goes onto the next test with no problem.

The only game I play is Unreal Tournament and NHL 2001, but I have had no problems with either. I didn't install the drivers from the CD, I went to Hercules website and downloaded the latest drivers.

I haven't changed anything in the registry. Although I may take PotNoodle's suggestion when I get home :)

there are some problems with kyro 2 from previous voodoo owners..
maybe they left (when installing voodoo drivers) something on the registry and hinder kyro 2 performance/stability...

I had a tnt-1 and I did a clean install... no problems whatsoever.. (I have win2000 and win98)

the only problem that I got was that I got low 3dmark 2000 scores with directx8.1 beta and windows 2000...
now with directx8 with windows 2000 and directx7 with windows 98 everything is ok...

Garet Jax, what score do you get in 3dmark 2000 & 2001 ?
And to powervr2, it's not like i can't play it, i just wonder why i get like 30-40 fps less, than i got with my geforce 2mx card.

DragonFly,

To be honest, I'm not sure. I don't pay attention to the results. Do you want me to run them again and report them back to you? What should I be getting?

Try a re-install of windows. NVidia is as bad as 3Dfx was (kinda normal for 3d cards in general, though...::sigh:: drivers).

DragonFly,

I did a completely fresh install on my machine. This could be the problem. You may want to try that.

Garet Jax: I'd be pleased, if you would run the test, and tell me the scores you get. I get these:
3dMark 2k: around 3500 (don't remember excactly, but it's very near to 3500).
3dmark 2k1: 1440
With my 'old' geforce 2mx, i got:
3dmark 2k: around 4600
3dmark 2k1: around 1800-1900

Anyway i've just reinstalled everything, when i received my new card. The reason i haven't used the drivers from hercules' site, is that my favorite games, like counter-strike, and need for speed 5, wouldn't run with the new drivers (the screen was flickering every second).

you could try tweak the drivers a little..

I underclock my duron to 700 mhz to see if I get bad results in SS...
and no... everything is ok even in 1024x768x32 ...

try to tweak your BIOS setup..
disabling bios shadowing.. etc... things that are video related (like agp 4x) etc...
maybe you could end up with a big surprise...
by the way I get 4500 score in 3dmark 2000 with duron 900
and roughly 1800 score in 3dmark 2k1 (direcctx8.1 leaked)
and 3dmark2k1 run flawless. even the demo...
but don't count much on 3dmark scores cause with your kyro it's benching your cpu not kyro 2 ...

you have a via motherboard ?
try to install the last drivers via4inall for your operating system there are lots of kyro users that were glad after installing that.

Dragonfly,

3DMark 2000 - 4095
3DMark 2001 - 1568

Pretty impressive that I got the benchmark done the same night as Game 6 of the quest for Lord Stanley's mug.

Go Quebec...

Errrrrrr.....

Go Colorado....
