HELP! My kt7 suddenly can't work.

My computer suddenly can't work. I installed it about three month ago using abit kt7 and duron600. It works fine until yesterday. When I turn on, it doesn't response. The cooling fans of CPU and power only rotate several circles then STOP. After I change video card and memory and power even the CPU, it still can't work. I suspect there is something wrong with the motherboard. But I feel really odd cause I DID NOT touch computer. My computer just suddenly doesn't work

Did someone meet similar situation? Or give me some advice.

Thanks.

Very strange. I'm not sure I'm reading your post correctly. Did you change the power supply? Is your system "beeping" at all during the POST?

thanks, dan. Yes, I change power supply. It doesn't work. in fact I change memroy, cpu and video card. All I got are same: the fan only rotate several cycles and stop, no beeping, no any response. I really feel very strange cause I didn't install any hardware and software recently. I just use it everyday. I don't know how I can test the mb. Maybe I need use another mb to test other componets?

If you changed P/S, CPU, and RAM with known working ones, yeah, your M/B just failed. I have an Abit KT7 too, started getting real funky one day, and like you, I didn't change anything. Worked fine one day, turned it on the next day and Windows was all of a sudden giving me errors of all kinds,,,"corrupted registry" errors, "kernel32.dll" errors, etc. I've been reading about alot of people having similar problems with the Abit KT7, but other people are having no problems at all with it. I would think of getting a different board, I just got the MSI K7T Pro2-A and what a difference. RMA your board, when you get the new one make sure it works as it's suppose to, and sell it and get the MSI board, unless you want to keep it.

I just went through a whole rma process with one of these boards and a tbird. I had no idea what to expect and the manual sucks.

For me I posted twice for a few seconds then everything turned off completely. ARe you saying that the fans just slow or that the power clicks off? If it goes off, for me it was simply a bad cpu! No beeps or any of the other parts were the cause. Im positive this is fact cause I got my exact motherboard back with a new sealed processor and bam I have been up and running for days now and I feel its stable.

I also noticed that if your chip cant hang at the old settings or your overclocking with a different multiplier this board won't post any video or beep. I just encountered my pencil trick screwing up after almost a week and will be fixing it with the defogger kit this weekend.

so maybe your cpu is dead is all I can think of. Otherwise if the fans are just slowing down without anything in the computer that to me is a symptom I have never experienced and would say the motherboard is screwing up.

I also have a KT7 mobo (nonRAID) so I hate to say this but I agree with ZoSo. Sounds like your mobo has gone south.

Thanks, guys. I have an other question. Do you know whether the fan on the mb is rotating or not if noly the mb is connected(that means I don't insert CPU)? I just only connect mb to power supply(don't use cpu), you know what? the fan of mb and power supply are rotating. I am surprised. I don't know whether this means my cpu is bad.

The motherboard and power supply fans will operate without a CPU. If they work okay until you put in the CPU, then your mobo may be okay. I thought you replaced the CPU though. If the fans stop working when any CPU is installed then I'm still betting it's a mobo gone bad.

Did you happen to plug any cables into you motherboard while it was still running because if get some dust in your motherboard while....it will fry the motherboard and you will have to get a new one. Thats what I've heard.

No. In fact I didn't install any hardware or software recently. That's make me confuse: I don't touch it and it doesn't work suddenly after running for about three month.

I don't want to say it because I know many of you like abit's kt7. So do I before today. Today I went to a computer company to test my system. After half hour test, I got this:
"Motherboard is killing CPU's. Had ruined three of them now."
To test my abit kt7, this company loss 2 duron 700. My friend also loss his CPU when I use his to test my system. I never heard such thing: mb can kill cpu. Do you believe this? But it happens. Do you guys know something like this? I am really unlucky. I bought mb about three month ago. Now I try to RMA it.

zane,Sounds like another sad Abit RMA quality control problem anyway when you RMA it buy a MSI K7T Pro2A & you should be ok,btw my old board was Abit but when I went over to MSI what a difference that made on everything, yes I`m now a MSI fan.
