i have an alpha pal6035 with a ystech fan. when the case is laid flat, and the hsf faces straight up to the ceiling, there are no vibrations and it is very quiet. but the minute i turn my case upright, leaving the hsf sideways, it starts vibrating like mad! i currently have a free molex connecter just resting on the fan to absorb some of the vibrations. how do i stop this from happening? it only happens when its sideways. i've read the article on using silicon caulking to separate the fan from the heatsink, but i'd like to be able to change fans still.

thx in advance

Use something like a soft mouse pad and cut out a frame. Then screw it between heatsink and fan, should cancel the noise or at least make it better!

just to clarify, is it the fan that causes the unit to vibrate?

there is a metal lid that separates the fan from the actual heatsink. by placing something between the lid and the fan, the sound should be cancelled? thanks

There should be spacers between the fan and the shroud (or is it between the heatsink and the shroud?).
