Hi all.. I am not sure if this should go here or the peripherals thread... so I deceded to try both....

I just got my Abit KR7A-133 .. and since it is a 133 board... I then pay attention to my HD ....

it is a Seagate ST320430A ... which according to Seagate, it should be an ATA66 drive..

but when I boot up my machine.. at the first information screen.. it said my HD1 is an ATA33 drive...

I wonder if anyone knows what is going on ? ... or how could I solve this ? .. or I just misunderstood something ?

Please help

Thx

When it boots up to the highpoint controller screen, press CTRL-H and go into the bios to set your transfer setting.

<< It sounds like you're using a 40-pin cable to connect the hard drive to the motherboard, instead of an 80-wire one. >>

yeah. I am using the black cable that comes w/ the KR7A-133 .. the strand are pretty densed togehter... I can carely count the strands....

I think I am usingthe right cable....

I am using the same high density cable for my HD in IDE Channel 1 and also the CDRom in IDE Channel 2 ... the cable in Channel 1 should has nothing to do w/ channel 2 right ?

mine is a KR7A-133 no RAID ..... will I still have the HighPoint Controller screen ? ... also... I saw the ATA33 in that information screen before it even get to Windows..... so.. I think driver is not an issue here ? (ie VIA 4 in 1 etc etc) ??

Please help ..
