HELP! My goshdarn NEC XV17+ crapped out!

I have this POS NEC multistink xv17+ monitor that has given me problems for 2 years. It never just turns on when I boot up. I always have to shut it off then turn it on before the display stays on. Now the damn thing keeps losing its display after a few minutes of being on. The OSD doesnt work anymore. Everytime I hit the control buttons the monitor freaks out and loses its display and I have to turn it off then on again. I have had several of these exact same monitors at work that have the same problem but I didnt really care because they werent mine but now I care be cause mine at home is freaking out! Anyone know what I can do or should I just chuck it and buy a new monitor? I plugged it into my laptop and get the same results so I know my system is not bad. All the pins are clean and not bent. HELP! thanks. It feels good to let that out.

Oyeve, I have a NEC XV17 and have the exact same problem as you!
It seems like the only fix for me is to make sure to turn on the computer BEFORE turning on the monitor or around the same time and make sure you HOLD ONTO the "ON" button until the screen stays, or else the picture will just vanish again if you do a "quick" turn on. I guess these old NEC's are just dying on us...
