Hi guys. Whenever I try and run just about any graphics intensive game, my computer freezes up. I just got a GeForce256 DDR. I try and load into just about any game when I am using ZDirect3d, and my whole damn system crashes, however, when I run DXdiag, it displays the images and sounds jus tfine. For Instance, I can load Unreal with software rendering, but it freezes as soon as I leave the intro video when set to direct3d. Same thing happened for carmageddon. Can anyone offer any help?? I have tried three sets of drivers (6.31, 6.47, and manufacturer)

It is an Asus Proprietary with a BX chipset. I already disabled my onboard video. I am trying to figure out what is wrong.

do I need a bigger power supply, or do I need to try something else?
I think my P/S is 230 watt.
I have 2 hdd, a dvd, a zip, a flopp, and two other pci cards, and my vid card

I doubt your agp slot wil EVER give enough power. The original GeForces are terrible power hogs.

so try removing some pci cards and stuff u dont need to see if it works with less power consumption from other components. One other thing to try is disconnect the onboard fan on Geforce (thus using less juice from AGP and more to GPU) and use a fan directly from PS.

I agree with the Members here it does sound like a PSU problem however don`t forget to tweak your BIOS,Fastwrites disabled, all video shadowing disabled, etc.
