HELP!!!, My computer is bombarded with hidden adds, I can't even set my homepage in IE!

Every time I turn on my computer my IE home page is changed. There are random icons on my desktop that are links to adds for stuff like video professor and f*cking health plans :|.

I can't find the folder thats holding all this crap, any clues on how to stop this?

This randomly happened to me at one point as well. I normally use Firebird unless a specific page freaks out, but my IE got locked on some German-based anti-American webpage (not exactly sure when that happened) and I managed to change it to msn as home, but the homepage is still completely uneditable. Any ideas on how to fix this??
