Hi,

I am having this problem where my computer always goes into BIOS when it is not properly shutdown (i.e: me pulling the power plug, or the power goes out)

In the BIOS, it always says something like: Check if the CPU is correctly set at the right clock speed

I did NOT overclock my cpu and the speed setting is right.

Why is this so ?
My system is:
Asus CUV4X
Celery 766 Mhz

thanks for any input.

Thats a standard Asus BIOS feature. It's actually quite useful when you change a setting and the boot doesnt complete, you just power down and back on then it resets to defaults and lets you enter the BIOS. Is it really a problem since this only happens when it isnt shut down properly?

I think it is a standard ASUS feature. I've used MSI, Abit and Epox and they do not do this.

Yes this matter since the system is used as a server machine. If power goes out or for some reason the machine is down, it will boot to the BIOS instead of booting normally :(

Any ideas on how to fix this ?

Get a UPS so it never loses power :)

Otherwise, I don't think there's a way to disable it. I've never seen an option for it on any of my asus mobos.

You could always try asking ASUS themselves. I sent a query regarding AGP4x and Sidebanding to their tech support email tsd@asus.com.tw

They replied within a couple of days. (unfortunately their reply was to tell me sidebanding was disabled in the bios of my gfx card - but hey ho... :) )

Get a UPS so that the machine always shuts down properly...since it's a server, you should have power protection anyway!:)
