I checked the cpu core, it's fine no crack or anything, plus I use cpu shim, so it minimizes the chance of cracking my cpu core. When I boot it, it stops at videocard check. I tried reseating the RAM, didn't work. I tried booting if for 5 secs w/o the HSF, didn't work. Also, When I plugged it the power chord and switched the switch in the back on the power supply, my computer turned on right away, I mean, I could not turn it off by pressing the power button in the front, I had to use the switch in the back. I checked the cable and it was fine. Please help.

Thank you

Have you reseated the video card yet? Does your computer beep, if it does count the beep pattern and post it here.

Nope, it doesn't beep at all. Is there anything else I can try. BTW, I use A7A266 mobo, w/ 1.33Ghz, if it helps. Thanks.

Did you make sure your shim didn't shift and short out the resistors or bridges? I dot a couple tiny dots of superglue to make sure mine doesn't move when I mount my heatsink. Also is the core leaving a imprint (with the Arctic Silver) on the heatsink with the shim installed? Kinda sounds like your shim is too high. Hopefully you haven't cooked the chip.

...........edit.................
Wow just read your post more thoughly and you booted without the heatsink on? It only takes a couple seconds to fry the core without a heatsink on. I think that is a keychain now.

It POST-ed!!! woohoooo...I thought I fried the chip. I'm not sure what the hell went wrong though. I reseated the ram and vid card again, and reinstall the cpu and the heatsink..and voila! it beeped and posted. Thanks guys.

That was pure fluke!!, u have a 1.33ghz chip, and you turn it on without te heatsink!!, well im glad your problem has fixed anyway...Dont do that again
