Help! My Comp Screws Up Every Night!

I have a weird problem with my computer. I can be on it all day and it will run fine. But when I leave it idle for a while,(not sure how long it takes to happen) I come back and the monitor power light is flashing because there is no input to it. This happens every night! I wake up and have to use the reset button to restart because the power switch on the case doesn't respond. If I do want to shutdown, I have to use the switch on the actual power supply in the back of the case. I'm not sure if this is a stability problem or not, but I would greatly appreciate any help with this annoyance! Thanks.
Here are my sys specs:
MSI K7T Pro-2a
Duron700@900 v1.8
128MB PC133 SDRAM
GeForce2 mx 32MB

Your system is esencially going on "standby" mode. If you leave your computer on for a long period of time (about 1 hour) with no input, eventually windows will start to turn things off, such as hard drives and monitors. Although i'm not sure why your monitor refuses to turn back on, you can easily disable your monitor turning off by going to Control Panel -> power, and change the timer for your monitor turning off to Never. That should help.

All you have to do is press the power button down on your computer, and your computer will turn back on. It's called stanby mode. My roomates always use stanby mode they don't like the thought of a computer staying on when no one is using it.

Go into your power profiles and set everything to NEVER cycle down. What is happening is that your monitor is just cycling down from the power profile. Standby does not really stop the video shutdown. In either case just hitting the spacebar or moving the mouse should revive the machine.

here are the steps My computer--control panel--Display--screen saver---at the bottom click on settings---set everything to never and then turn off the monitor at the monitor switch. Let the machine stay alive all the time. Go to Distributed Computing on the forum and put RC5 on your machine and help out Team Anandtech.
