so my cat has stopped going inside the litter box to pee. it isn't that she doesn't like the box, it is that she only gets the front half of herself into the box before she lets go. she just started doing this about 2 weeks ago. anyone have any clue?

Try taking the lid off the box..Cat is probably getting cataracts and is not seeing to well.

Put the Litter box up on a platform so that the cat has to jump up into the box. Don't make it too high, maybe just 6" or so so that it is uncomfortable to be halfway in between.

the box she started doing it in was actually a lidless under-bed storage box, so it is about 3x the normal box size. gonna try the elevation thing. cat only has 3 legs so she doesn't jump real well.

Well, you are already pretty close to the 'cutting the cat in half' solution

Wow, a 3-legged 18 year old cat.... wow.

Yea, the elevation thing should take care of it. If you need to, you can get a box with lower sides so that she can get up in there. the important thing is to make it a noticeable step up to get in the box so that she can tell her body is not level.

Just take her to Chinatown and leave her. Just don't eat in any of the restaurants there for a few days.

Chinese resturant? meh..... that's so old it's as lame as help my dog! thread with Korean comments or help my cow! thread with Indian comments, or help my frog......etc

I think the cat is probably sick, take it to the vet and check for pee tract infection.

I think the cat is sick, normally they sniff around and paw the litter to find a good spot.

she had skin cancer on the heel of her foot and the best thing to do is to amputate.

i think i'll put the large box up on some 2x4s

STFU...

Elfenix, sounds like she is sick. I am not the cat expert but I know cats need a comfortable place to pee and etc. Something is preventing her to look for a comfortable position/place... take the poor cat to a vet.

cat went to the vet
she has heart murmurs, her thyroid condition might have returned, she was dehydrated so they don't know if she has a bladder infection or not, and she is showing the first signs of kidney failure. all this in the 2 months since she was last at the vet. poor kitty.

With the age of the kitty and it's condition....the best thing may to put it down.

My mom had a dog that was 15 years old....blind...shaky....sickly....it was one of the saddest days that I can remember when she had her put to sleep.

yeah maybe. not in any pain though, with the possible exception of when she pees. depends on how her kidneys do.
