I am at work right now, trying to configure out network. I am trying to network one win98 computer and one win2k computer. I am trying to get both computers to share their hard drives. In network places(win2k) I can see both computers and I can see both computers hard drives. In network places(win98) I can see both computers but when I click on the win2k machine, it says 'no permisions to access resource'
if you need more info, just tell me
if you have any idea on what it is, PLEASE tell me, and I can try it out!

can't quite remember how to go about it with Win2k, but you must set your group permissions to read/write to that hard drive. Win98 doesn't have permissions like Win2k does.

Should be under user management somewhere, just allow everyone to read/write to that computer (unless its hooked to the web)

i messed around with a couple settings, and now it asked me for my password, and i gave it to windows, and it worked! So, I dont know what I did, I am just going to leave it be.
Thanks cenalian.

not very good security, if this is in a domain environment why not use "authenticated users" instead of everyone, or create a local group named 'access' and put the password as something decent and assign access rights to that account and when people connect they will have to use that username/password to connect - it would be a bit more secure then everyone having access to everything.

its not really a big deal. It is a 2 computer lan with internet connection via 56k. This is a 3 person company too.
I knew when I set this up, that the security wasnt too high, but im not too worried.
