Help my 98SE is behaving funny

Guys,
tonite I came home started the machine and hit enter at "enter network password" and it froze on me.. nothing happened.. the mouse was able to move but nothing else.
I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL (CAD) and it came up with a Blue screen of death saying system is unstable.

So I rebooted and asked my brother if he installed any software he said no, but that is not the problem. All he did is flushed Internet Explorer's buffer and the next time on boot when he hit ok it didnt let him in. So on the next reboot he hit cancel.. and that is how I got in right now..

Any Ideas?

delete your password list under c:/windows/<profile name>.pwl

I will try that but it freezes when you hit enter.

Delete the .pwl list from DOS?
