Me again..
Recently I built a system for a friend with the MSI K7T pro 2 motherboard, win2k, and a western digital hard drive, and can't get it to use Ultra DMA mode, it is stuck in PIO mode.
Just a day or two ago, I built a system almost exactly like his with the same motherboard but a Maxtor hard drive, and win2k, and again it won't use UDMA mode (stuck in PIO mode).
When I look on my computer with the Asus A7V and Win2k, it is still using PIO mode, even though "dma if possible" is selected.
I'm wondering what may cause this? On the K7T boards the max throughput is a whopping 2mb/sec off the hard drive and REALLY noticable in whatever you do.
Maybe I'm a dumbass, but don't know. I've tried all the latest drivers, blah blah blah.
My IDE RAID with an Abit Hotrod card does seem to work fine (63mb/sec sustained)
Thanks
