Help! MS word is blindingly bright. Anyway to fix this?

I'm sitting typing into MS word for 5 minutes and the sheer white of the screen is just so damn bright that it hurts my eyes and is giving me a headache - like it always does.
Is there any way to change this so it would look like an old DOS word processor with the black background and white text? It would be SOO much easier on the eyes yet I can't seem to find an option for it anywhere in Word.

how bout adjusting the brightness/contrast of your monitor?

You can change it to navy blue background, with white text.... it's under Options, then under the General tab...

Wow thanks so much! With all those options this one must have slipped by me. Its not a black background, but its a hell of a lot better. THANKS!!
