I just got a new Leadtek GF4 TI4400 today but I can't install it because it doesn't fit my Epox 8KHA+ motherboard! Darn! There are two problems that prevent me from seating the card. There are capacitors in the way & the agp clip is in the way of the Leadtek's massive heatsink.

pic of huge heatsink

I gotta return this card and get a new one that fits. I need advice from 8KHA+ owners about what brands of cards will fit!

I believe that is a known issue with that Epox board. I think this is only with the Ti4400/4600 cards so any other one should be ok.

Why not get a new Mobo that can accomodate for the card instead of returning such a nice video card?

I'd be out money if I did that. I'm not building a new system here so I can't return my motherboard (it's already almost 1/2 a year old.)

Hey means that Epox has to replace it for free. There boards are out of the AGP spec.

The 4200 card is shorter, should fit fine if it doesn't have the ludicrous heat sink.

Either you get another videocard or another mainboard.
I fear EPOX won't do anything about it.
But it's true, they are out of specs with some of the 8KHA+, therefore they basically should be held responsible.

And they really gave the advice to remove the capacitor on the 8KHA+ since it isn't used anyway, no kidding.

If it's not used, why's it on there?

so that when you upgrade your video card (to GF4), you will be forced to buy a new motherboard too, hopefully from Epox again ;)

That way, they will be selling more motherboards, hence more $$$$$$$ for them, Understand ?

of yeah.......make sure that GF5's will fit on the new boards when they come out else you will be hunting for a board that can fit GF5 :D

I believe the extra capacitor was for extra stability when overclocking, however the Epox engineers found you don`t really need it,if I was you just buy the Gainward GF4 Ti4400 card,it has excellent 2D quality and I`ll be very ,very surprised if that does not fit, since I know somebody that is using it in an Epox 8KHA+ board.
