Help - More fps slows my game down?

I thought I'd giv ethe Blood Money demo a go. I've got a 7900gtx, so I'm just pootling along at say average 45fps, 4xAA 16xAF @ 1280x1024. When it's at that rate, it's fine.

However, I noticed that it seemed it'd bog down fairly frequently, someitimes every other step, sometimes for a long extended period.

So I started up fraps and watched away. To my utter confusion, when it's at 45ish fps, all is fine, it can drop down to as low as 39ish, and it's smooth as butter. However, when I wondered over into a simple area (as in, minimal detail, it's on a pier, so I walked over to face out to sea sort of thing) the fps goes up (as high as 80) but the game slows right down?

At 80 it is basicall about half speed.

To clarify, the game doesn't get choppy at all. There's no stuttering, I can flick the mouse view around and it doesn't stutter, tear, anything. It just literally goes into slow motion when the FPS rises.

I'm utterly baffled.

Any thoughts/ideas? Are any of the 91's or whatever we're on any good? I've got 84.37 v2 by tweaks r us at the moment, is it worth trying out different drivers?

Other specs:

4400+ X2 at 2.4Ghz
2Gb Mushkin ddr500 at 3-3-3-8 218Mhz
Dual monitors.
Need anything else?

Try stock official NVidia drivers. That sounds like a strange issue, and might be driver-related.

You are likely CPU or memory limited. The graphics subsystem isn't limited at 80 FPS.

I'm going to put up a couple of screenshots onto pics.bbzzdd

As a note, my CPU usage is low during the slowmo periods, and is higher during the busy (smooth) periods.

It'll even slow right down if I look down at the floor (it's at 83fps, and i'm running in slow motion)

How can I be memory limited? Wouldn't that mean it was slower in the scenes that required a lot of memory? As opposed to the really simplistic ones that just comprised of a few floorboards and the character? WOuldn't that also mean it would happen to everyone? As 2GB is the most you can have given to any one task...

Also, for the record, I'm using a consistent 690MB of RAM during the game. So I've got about 1358ish leftover...

As Promised:

EDIT:

FIXED IT. Disabled V-Sync in-game. Worked. This game is pretty fun, shame the demo level is so simplistic.
