Help! Modem dials on its own!!

I don't know what I did, but for some reason, my modem dials and connects to the internet when I turn the computer on. Even after I disconnect, shutdown properly power back up. Whats the deal????

I had this problem once. It was caused by a trojan virus (Sub Seven - or something like that). Norton AV did not detect it. I used a program called 'The Cleaner' from http://www.moosoft.com to detect it. Give it a shot...and GOOD LUCK!

I have RC5 running a few systems and depending how you set it up it can try to make a connection on its own when its buffers are full. I know I scared my girlfriend cause she was convinced her PC was possessed cause it kept trying to dial and it woke her up sometime in the middle of the night, and she didnt know how to make it stop so she pulled the plug... kinda funny

Hey if thats not the problem you should take a look at your startup programs... its possible you might be able to find one which is trying to update itself or something...
