Nutshell: Turn the computer on, looks like it is posting, (optical drives flash), HD spins, but no signal to monitor. If I leave it, it will just sit with the fans going and won't go into XP. If I shut off the powersupply, and pull out all the USB devices it will boot normally. Then I have to plug all the USB devices back in.. I have the latest firmware on the mobo, and all the latest drivers...It just started doing this after it sat for a month turned off while I was out of the country. Any suggestions to a fix? Or has anyone else had this problem?

Build:

MSI K8N Neo4 socket 939 mobo
2 512 Corsair VS
MSI x800XL PCI-e
AMD Athlon 64 1.81GHz
WD 250 gig
Antec power supply

Nothing is overclocked.. and the system keeps cool, the CPU doesn't go over 120F.

Thanks

1fast.

How big is your Antec P/S? Booting w/o USB devices is a big clue - they each take about 5 vdc.

I have had this problem.

It is trying to boot off the usb device which looks like a hard drive to the BIOS.

The stupid BIOS decides that this new drive is the boot drive.
