Help! MIDI doesn't play!

I tried reinstalling the driver for the C-Media integrated audio device. no midi playback still. I even connected my TASCAM US?B audio interface to see if that works, but still no luck. I'm guessing it's not the hardware's problem, it's Windows's. I checked volume controls, etc, control panel, everything. my software synthesizer is Roland GS Software Wavetable. the MIDI driver might be corrupted or something, but I'm not sure.

any idea what is wrong?

thanks

Hi, I'm not familiar with Roland, but every Sequencer I've used has a option to either send the MIDI to the Sound Card/Speakers or to a Midi Instrument. Can use the Game port connector using an adapter or another Midi output card to get to the instrument. Make sure you are setup to use the device you want to run. Jim

What do you mean by "MIDI playback?" Do you want MIDI sound out of your speakers, or do you want MIDI data sent out over a cable to a MIDI device? It is a problem when you expect one but ge the other.

If you play a MID file and hear nothing, make sure that your MIDI stream is actually decoded by the sound card, instead of sent out over a cable.
