I have been playing MOHAA and I bought a new WD hardrive and tried to copy my Win XP old disk to new one using lifeguard data tools. It copied to new HD no problem so I plug in the new HD it starts to boot, I see windows boot screen then it stops at a blue screen with a Win XP logo and the words Windows XP, no desktop start bar etc will not go to desktop.

So I figure it must be an XP thing, thinking you can't copy like you can with Win 98. So I went ahead and formated my new HD and did a clean install.

So my question is is there anyway in MOHAA to get to the level where I was at on the old HD without having to start the whole game over?

One more question can you copy HD to HD with XP?

TIA

I use 3 HDDs in my system, and only one is ever active. Every week I copy one to another as backups. These are accurate clones and there is never a problem booting. In order to clone a drive, you have to use Ghost, Drive Image or Drive Copy. The only way you can restore your game is to have copied the game data file on a backup media then put it into your reinstalled drive and program. You over reacted. You should have ghosted the drive to the new drive. Lifeguard data tools apparently does not create an accurate, bootable drive image on the new drive. Sorry! :(

Corky thanks for the reply, got it on the ghost. I still have the old drive, so I could I just hook up the old drive copy the data file from MOHAA to a CDRW and copy it to the new drive in MOHAA?

Connect the old drive as a slave and transfer the save game folder directly.

For allied assault, the path is : C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\MOHAA\main\save
