I am working Outlook Express 6 under WinXP Professional, which btw performs stunning in all aspects. Trouble is that when creating a new message, the only acceptable font by outlook6 is Arial. Any other change on the fly while writing, or permanent from the tools>options>compose or send menu is simply not applicable even the prementioned menu tabs seem to take and apply the font change normally! Thanks a lot in advance to anyone who will spend some time answering me!

PS: Check my last reply to see the answer-it might be interesting to u too!

This is exactly the path I follow-well known years now- but simply it doesn't work! The new mail appears with the new font selection but when I press the first key......back to Arial! I just installed Office2000 and turned back to Outlook which has always been my fav mail client-what happens there? All the same except the fact that the font is "locked" to Trebuchet!!(the XP font I think?). The XP install is fresh and clean without any other signs of malfunction, conflicts or sth- why can't everything work fine to the very last detail in a Microsoft OS once??? :(

PS: Could this be an incompatibility issue between Office2000 and XP? Anyone faced it too?

OK , after days of wondering in vain around Microsoft's support pages (oh....they are so numerous...lots of bugs really!) for Outlook (problem applies to both Outlook Express and Outlook2000,XP) I found the answer to the problem by myself- It all comes from the STUPID relation I discovered between Internet Explorer's tools-Internet Options' settings and MS Outlook.
Let's get to it: Some time ago I decided that I wanted to see all web page content under a certain font type e.g Arial. So I went through IE-Tools-Internet Options-Fonts (where I changed the font for WEB PAGES I repeat) - Arial plus the path in the tab next to Fonts called Accessibility, where u check the option ignore font styles for WEB PAGES (I repeat for the 2nd time) cuz if u only change the fonts' option it just applies to PAGES that don't have a specific font type (the rest that are kind of font-locked in a way wouldn't be affected). Everything went fine and I was enjoying my net surfing the way I wanted it to be. And here comes the stupid relation I mentioned before- although all these changes are stated to affect WEB PAGES ONLY, they also lock the font type in every new mail u compose to Arial,(!!!) in my example, even if u try to change it on the fly while writing or by the well known Outlook's Tools-Options-Compose (for Outlook Express) or Font Type etc. for MSOutlook! And here I ask: WHAT IS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE WEB PAGE FONT SETTINGS AND NEW MAIL FONT IN OUTLOOK???? How bright these programming brains get some times in order to confuse us day and night for a simple customization setting????:|
I 'd be really glad if anyone from Microsoft read this forum.....He 'd have a lot to learn from all of us.........

PS: I am not a Microsoft warrior- I strongly consider WinXP, for example, an excellent OS in terms of stability, reliability and features. But I can't stand bugs that even a child would understand and break your nerves in the simplest of PC tasks like when writing an email....
PS2: I don't think anyone would say why did I change the IE's font settings - choosing the way I see things in my monitor when I pass so many hours in front of it, could mean more to me and many others......

go to tools -> options -> send

what's your mail sending format, html or txt? if it's html, i think the reason is clear enough. if it's text, then *shrug*
