Ok this is gonna be long sorry but its a long story.
Basicly it starts like this 2 years ago back when the VX922 19 inch LCD was really hot like alot of people i decited to purchase my first LCD and i t was expensive and it was one of the best for gaming regardless of not being widescreen. After having it for a couple months i had major back light bleeding and dead pixels so i RMA'd it and got another VX922. That one worked just fine for a year ina half, and then my problem started.
The problem started a week ago, basicly anytime i go into a game or reboot the pc with the monitor on or change the resolution the monitor will go black stay black and the green power light will blink on and off. I found out its a defect in this model and doing google searchs im not alone tons of people countless really who have the thing for almost 2 years have the same exact problem as i do.
They and i found that if you unplug it for 5 min the power that is, then plug it back it will work until you reboot the pc, change the resolution, or launch a game. I called viewsonic the stupid techs there dont even know the basics on these monitor's so they were no help. So i had to once again RMA it except this time i chose the replacement not the repair.
After i sent it out i started thinking to myself well if they all seem to do this and the monitor was discontinued then obviously something is wrong, so i called them back and told them i want a different model i dont want the vx924 since thats a downgrade, and i dont want a vx922. They told me ok but they cant tell me what its going to be replaced with, all they said was that i would get a better or equal monitor. The only 19 inches they sell now for the VX series is 3.
The VX1932WM, its a widescreen with a 1440x900 resolution, 2ms response, and 2000:1 contrast with there dynamic ratio thing, but i think its actually like 600:1 or 800:1. It also has "barf" built in speakers and its $295. I asked if he could put a note i dont want to the vx1932 it may be comparible but its ugly and speakers are huge turn off for me.
The VX1940W, its a widescreen but has a 1680x1050 resolution super small compact pixels i belive its like a 0.23 dot pitch or something which is really nice and i belive its because its a 19 inch with that resolution. 2MS response and a 1000:1 or 3000:1 contrast ratio. No speakers it looks good and its $295
The 3rd is a VX1962WM, basicly the same as the one above cept it has a 6000:1 contrast so they claim. Its $295 also.
Now i dont know what im going to get and they noted in there i dont want the vx1932wm, i would prefer the VX1940W or VX1962WM. She said they have a ton of vx1962wm'S in stock so i will probly get that.
Regardless of what they say im still worried they will give me another vx922 if they do im gonna call them send it back and there paying for shipping this time.
Anyway sorry for this looong post but can you guys with more experiance on these issues give me some kinda idea what there gonna replace my monitor with, and if anyone knows why the VX922 are defective what cuases that black screen and green blinking power light problem ?
