We got a new Toshiba 200D notebook, and right now we have an issue which is totally random and non-reproducable:

The screen flashes occasionally like the gfxcard is overheating - but then i am pretty sure its not a heating problem since running 3d apps itself doesnt trigger it. It sometimes happens while ide at the desktop.

I would almost certainly say its NOT an hardware issue since miraculously while its flashing logging OFF vista and re-login again gets rid of it. I am almost certain its a software issue.

So..i had this brandnew laptop on my desk for 12hrs straight while i installed Vista Ultimate and all Toshiba drivers (i wiped everything what was on it) - and the point is i didnt have any flickering issue the whole time when it was on my desk.

NOW INTERESTING:

I see some entries in event log in regards to ACPI that it couldnt assign IRQ to the PCIE Express Standard Root Ports.

if i open device manager i see an ODD IRQ number on the PCIEX root ports and the ATI HD 2600: 0xFFFFFFFFDD <-----

Respective the 2600HD doesnt have any IRQ assigned to it !

This just looks totally odd to me.

Does someone have a recent Toshiba Laptop with an HD 2600/2600 mobility....what IRQs are assigned to your graphics card??? How does it look?

Otherwise everything looks fine in dev manager etc....system runs fine RIGHT NOW.

I slowly start to think that the updated bios v1.20 i downloaded from the toshiba page has something wrong with its IRQ settings - this would also explain that those flickering issues started once i updated everything. Maybe this bios is buggy?

Of course...i cant find the original V1.00 bios on the download page anymore. I thought it backuped on the USB stick i flashed with..but it didnt.

Anyway...hope someone can give me imput. I just never seen such weird IRQ entries in device manager and also eventviewer shows that "something" is odd.

I am also afraid sending the machine to toshiba if its a software issue wont solve any problem and i will just waste time doing so.
