up that video card to at LEAST a vanilla 6800.

tone down that memory to basic 3200 and save a load of cash.

Well, you're nice and polite.

You could save some dough if you go with some nice alternatives.

That Plextor burner you could replace with an NEC one and it'll save ya a nice sum, without sacrificing quality of the drive (well not much anyways).

Maybe go with the 128Mb version of the 9800 Pro? Depending on what price you'll be getting it for, the money you save on other parts could be put towards a nice 6800 non-Ultra that can be easily gotten for $300 or less.

I would personally upgrade the hard drive. I think you could probably find a 120gig one for not too much more, maybe even less. I like Seagate myself, their 5 year warranty is a nice bonus, but WD isn't bad bay any means.

Do you plan on overclocking? If not, then you could save a bunch on the memory by going with Corsair ValueRAM. Its just my opinion that unless you go with say PC3500 or better, getting the XMS/HyperX etc. RAM isn't worth it, but its just my opinion.

As for rounded cables, since you're a new builder I'd say that they wouldn't be a bad idea. They can help your case flow which is always a good thing.

Here's a nice deal on a 6800. It comes with Far Cry and 2nd day shipping free. Also, eVGA has a nice Step-up program if you should decide that you'd like a GT or better within the next 3 months. eVGA 6800 @ ZZF

Sorry

get 2 of These and used the money saved to buy this.

oh, and you may want a better PSU. i suggest taking a look at an antec true380. or just looking at an antec case. i always say that the PSU is the most important part in a computer. a bad one and you will wave bye to your computer.

and as for the guy above me recommending round cables, i say dont. you can just flatten out the ribbon cables to allow better airflow than round cables, and they are free.

I suggested round cables mainly because for new builders, its not as easy to get the regular cables to allow good airflow. It won't matter that much anyways, though. Also, your motherboard might come with rounded cables, so just use whatever comes with it.

There are several nice coolers for A64. I would recommend staying away from the copper tower cooling units because they'll put a large amount of stress on your board and I just don't trust them myself. If you have to have the ultimate in non liquid-cooling, Thermalright has a new aluminum with nickel plated heat pipes one that can fit a 120mm fan. Its huge but weighs less than the copper coolers, while cooling as well and sometimes better. It'd be pretty expensive though, about $75 or more by the time you get it, a good 120mm fan, and some Arctic Silver 5.

I've got no problems with them, I just like the looks of this one. If they made a copper version of this one....:Q

Oh, and by stay away from the copper tower coolers, I'm talking about those ones that stick way off of the board and weight like 600g without the fans (and of course you'd mount two 80mm on there, otherwise whats the point :D).

The smaller Thermalright XP-94s and others aren't bad, by any means.

I just trying to compare which one would be the "bestbuy" do it yourself or buy it from a store.
