Can anyone help me with what i want to do here. Someone posted a deal for this Sharp 5.1 Dolby Digital . I bought it today and when we move in i want to hook this up to everything else.
For our Dorm
My cousin has a 20" Awia Flat screen (model TVF2000 here TVF2000 Manual ), we want to hook up his PS2 (to use as DVD player), my altec lansing ACS 48 ( ACS 48 ), my cousins Yamaha speakers ( YST-MS50W Yamaha YST ) and my computer, which has a SB Live Value!. I know this is alot, but can it happen? Whats the best way to do it?

Your best bet would be to get a dedicated reciever.

if yoru on a budget, Technic's will be a good buy. Best buy usually has good deals on them.

as for your computer speakers, your prolly SOL hooking them up to a home system, unless they are connected with normal old comptuer speakers and can handle up to 100Watts RMS.

I only want to do this if i can hook it all up
I have in the past hooked up my ACS 48 to my old ass TV downstairs so i know at least thats possible. The Sharp system, and yamaha, and TV, are at my cousins house tonight. I'm going over there tommorrow and we wanted to know how to start. Any info is appreciated greatly, thanks!

first off you'd have to buy a Digital (optical) cable for the PS2 so you can get Dolby Digital through the reciever (they run ~20 dollars for a cheap one at walmart).

Then you'd have to just run video to the Receiver (sharp 5.1 dolby digital setup), along with the optical cable. That will wire your PS2 up to the system. For your computer, you need to goto Radio Shack and buy a 1.5mm Headphone to RCA converter cable (stereo tho, will cost bout 1.50) this will hook into your sound card, andt hen give you the RCA outs needed to goto the reciever.

I dont know how'd you go about hooking up your comptuer speakers to it, i guess it deepnds on their connections.

hess.

The Sony2 Fiber Optic Cable will work great (i picked mine up at meijer for 11.99), make sure you go into the PS2 menu and set it up to use the digital out.

and that cable, i've looked it up on Sony's Site, looks like its just an optical cable with and adapter on it, i could be wrong--but etiher way don't expect your Sharp Digital System to have more than one optical imput, although i could be wrong.
