Help me with this build

My father is a gamer, and is running an old Pentium III 800Mhz with a GeforceTi4200.

Important factors:
His budget is around $1,000
He doesn't need a new monitor.
We will NOT overclock any components.
He wants a system that will last him a few years and will run Direct X 10 games when they come out.

Hard drive size is not important. He has a 40 Gig drive and probably has only 1/2 of it full.

He wants decent/acceptable RAM for his motherboard, but price is more important than performance.

Help me adjust the cost on what I have so far:

BFG Geforce 8800GTS @ $499.00
Core 2 Duo 1.86 Ghz @ $185.00
2 Gigs of OCZ DDR2-800 Ram @ $225.90 found here http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=85236
Biostar Tforce 965PT motherboard @ $104.00
Antec Truepower Trio 550 watt powersupply @$99.00
Seagate 160 Gig SATA drive @ $72.00
Windows XP with coupon for Vista @ $139.00

Grand total so far, $1314.

Need help with Powersupply and memory, not sure what's best there.

And finally, will his current ATX mid-tower case work with this new system?

Thanks in advance.

You may be able to knock $50 or so off the 8800, I've seen that GTX's can be had for $599 now (versus $659 a week ago), so the GTS's are probably going get closer to their MSRP of $450.

I think I've seen bigger and cheaper SATA drives around too - go scan Pricegrabber, the Egg, and ZZF for deals.
