Help me with some audio CD's

Ok i recently bought the Lite-On 12/10/32 burner and i started to make some audio cds. I use them for my car cd player which is a Sony cd-7850ES. When i burn mp3 songs into cd format then play it in my car it does wierd things. Sometimes it takes forever for my cd to initialize and finally playing. Sometimes when playing songs, it will skip (the cd player is anti skip with a music buffer). Sometimes the cd will try to play but then the cd tells me "Error" and does nothing.
Now none of this happens with my normal cds so is there something i am doing wrong?
I used the memorex 74min cd-r disks and i use the default adaptec burner software.
Please help me this is very discouraging.

One is that the player doesn't like burned discs. (my old sony didn't), but if it's less than 2 years old, it should be ok.

Try burning at a slower speed. My current player hates cd's burned at 12 speed (on a plextor) but has no issues at 4x.

If burning at a slower speed doesn't work, try a different kind of CDR.

good luck

Crizza is correct. Most likely, the low reflectivity of the media is the culprit. cd-rs have much lower reflectivity than pressed cds. Auto players and portables seem to be the pickiest. Most people try various brands (the same brand can be made by several different plants, so, brand is no guarantee). The usual suggestion is that when you find something that works for all your audio needs, you buy a bunch of 'em.

I have tried over 2 dozen brands/mfg., and use my brother's Bose factory player for my worst case scenario. If it plays in his, most likely it will play in anything, because very few do.

What I have found to work well:
Taiyo Yuden
Mitsui
Kodak silver/silver
Fuji gold

Sure others will work. Some people may find these don't work. However, I don't think I've ever seen anyone dog on TY or Mitsui.
