Hey guys, I'm getting a new CPU and motherboard. I want to make sure the CPU isn't messed up and performs well and wont die on me. Should I run one of these clients for a while to test the CPU ??

Run SETI@home. It is nice to run on a new pc. No real reason you would need to run it but what the hell.

BUt why, I don't understand. Is the main reason why everyone runs it, is strictly to find ET life ? Or is it to test computer performance ?

To find ET life. It will not really test the performance of your pc since it runs on unused clock cycles.

but i should test the CPU to see if it wont die on me right ? because the its an OEM and has a 7 day warrenty, i dont want there to be somehting wrong with it, and for it to die in 3 months or anything. i want it to last at least 2 years.

Only 7 days? You got screwed. I get one year on OEM as long as I buy a fan at the same time and I get three years on retail box.

I have only had one CPU die and it took more than 30 days but less than a year.
